Title: It is a bit quiet round here!
Post by: Lizzie on May 24, 2007, 08:23:10 PM
Less than one month to go!
I am really getting excited. I am very disappointed though that I am not having lots of forum messages! Where are you all? Well I will tell you that Seth Lakeman tickets are selling really well, we may have a sell out but don't stop trying if you need a ticket get it soon. The family Mahone are likely to sell out as always, there are tickets left at the moment.
Close behind - the other concert tickets are going well and weekend tickets are still available. Do get in touch if you need to know any more about the artists who will be at MFAB this year. We are still working on the event guide and they will be hot off the press very soon!
Looking forward to seeing you all at MFAB again this year those who have been before, and to those of you just thinking about it. Go on give us a go!

Hi

Its is a bit quiet

I've been lurking for a while now. I've not been to a Folk Festival for ages, being a retired Morris Dancer, and I'm really looking forward to the whole event. I have tickets for the Seth Lakeman concert and an all day ticket for the Sunday.

To get the ball rolling,I have a few questions.

How big are the fringe events, is there a list anywhere of acts/groups attending

Are there any workshops

Tickets. Where is the box office and what time is it open until on the Friday.

Parking: where is a good spot.

Anyone have any tips for things to see/do.

Kevan

I am really pleased to answer these questions for you!

We have booked around 50 bands for the fringe, I am expecting that list to be put on the website today.

Are there any workshops Whistle, guitar, fiddle, meet the artist, more..... again schedule on website soon.

Tickets. Where is the box office and what time is it open until on the Friday. Have a look at the map, find the main marquee on civic way and the box office is there and should be open around 4pm Friday.

Parking: where is a good spot. Have a look at the map, there are several car parks a few minutes walk to main site. Try Somerfields but it does close through the night! THere are other designated parking areas.

Anyone have any tips for things to see/do. Far too much to put here!

Good luck!
Liz

Hi Lizzie
I'm new to this site, but it all looks very exciting. I'm looking after my Mum over the festival weekend, she is in a wheelchair. Does the main site or any of the fringe venues have disabled access? I would love to bring her over for some lunch maybe and then checkout whats on over one of the afternoons. Would you suggest anywhere in particular?
                       Cheers
                             Chris

Hi Chris, I don't want to cause a problem and would like your mum to come and enjoy the festival, so I will say that MOST venues have disabled access but you might do well to check before you come, if you click on any of the fringe venues, if they have a contact you could call them. The main marquee is flat and if you get in touch with us in the box office we can arrange side access if required. Lunch - well all the pubs will be very busy and I don't want to recommend one over another, but the Narrowboat is good - not sure about access, Kings Lock do nice food, there will be stalls with yummy food etc...

Thanks Lizzie,
I understand your reticence to recommend one place over another, I will phone a couple of the pubs and enquire about access etc.  I wont be buying tickets for gigs in advance as it all depends on the weather as to whether we can come down or not. But from what is posted on this site it looks like quite a lot goes on outside of the main gigs as well.
                    Cheers
