Jockey Men's Morris

images

The Jockey Morris Men have been active in Birmingham since their formation in 1949.

As Jockey understand, there was a woman called Gwen Johnson who was a member of the EFDSS. She was not impressed with the standard of Morris Dancing that she had seen and hence her decision to create a young men's side. This was in 1949. The aforementioned lady lived in Jockey Road, Sutton Coldfield. Hence the name of the club. The rosettes that we wear on our kit are taken from the Sutton Rose motif and the Blue Baldrics are from the colour that is associated with the City of Birmingham where we are, of course, based.

We have performed all over the country and have been proud to represent Morris Dancing and the City of Birmingham in places as far flung as: Warwickshire/France/ Flanders/Holland/Germany.images

Marvellous!
